This Chelsea loft was transformed from a beat-up live-work space into a tranquil, light-filled home with oversized windows and high ceilings. The open floor plan created a new kitchen, dining area, and living room in one space, with two airy bedrooms and bathrooms at the other end of the layout. We used a pale, white oak flooring from LV Wood Floors throughout the space, and kept the color palette light and neutral. The kitchen features custom cabinetry and a wide island with seating on one side. A Lindsey Edelman chandelier makes a statement over the dining table. A wall of bookcases and media storage anchors the other end of the living room, with the TV mount built-in at the center.
This townhouse sits mid-block, looking onto Brooklyn’s Fort Greene Park. Our project scope was to create a duplex living space for the owners on the parlor and 2nd floor. The house had lovely original features such as 12’ ceilings, original plaster crowns, and original doors and frames. We retained these features but reworked the rest of the space completely to create a serene, minimalist home in keeping with the owners’ aesthetic orientation.
The main living space is situated at the rear of the house, with new full-height glass doors looking onto a deep garden with plentiful natural light. We used new white oak flooring laid in a chevron pattern throughout the floor, and designed a built-in walnut bench and cabinet for AV equipment. A tiny, deep blue powder room opens off the corner.
The kitchen is in the center of the space, and is designed with clean planes and detailing; hardware-less cabinets line both walls, utilizing the volume under the new stair for storage. The countertops are honed Calacatta Lincoln marble.
On the second floor, the bathroom overlooks the garden and features a marble fireplace surround original to the house, white marble mosaic floors, and minimalist bathroom fixtures.
This family home in the heart of Park Slope was a transformation of the deepest kind. The four-story property was set up as a rental property and badly in need of refurbishment. We created a triplex space for the family of five on the upper floors, with a guest apartment on the garden level for family and friends. The rear of the house was expanded into the garden slightly, and opened up with expansive glass to take advantage of the southern exposure.
For the interior spaces, we used wide plank oak flooring throughout the house and amplified the natural light with enlarged windows & skylights. The house extension was integrated with the existing structure seamlessly, with custom plaster moldings to match the original architectural detailing.
This Park Slope home to two filmmakers was transformed and updated throughout. The new kitchen at the rear of the house features walnut and holly wood cabinetry. The original wood floors were restored and the main living space widened by removing the wall alongside the stair.
This prewar apartment on Manhattan's upper west side was gut-renovated to create a serene family home with expansive views to the hudson river. The living room is filled with natural light, and fitted out with custom cabinetry for book and art display. The galley kitchen opens onto a dining area with a cushioned banquette along the window wall. New wide plank oak floors from LV wood run throughout the apartment, and the kitchen features quiet modern cabinetry and geometric tile patterns.
Our clients had owned this lovely pre-war townhouse for many decades, and wanted to remake the house to adapt to changing family requirements. The plan was to create a multigenerational home with their children and grandchildren AND they wanted to live in a space without stairs for reasons of health and wellbeing. The renovation took place in two phases: first, we created a new garden level apartment for the owners, and then in a second phase, renovated the upper floors of the house to create a home for their daughter and her young family.
The house had been well maintained and had original floors, plaster details, and wood mouldings, which we restored. At the rear of the parlor floor, we installed a new kitchen that adjoins the dining and living area and also opens onto a deck over the garden. Upstairs are bedrooms, a new bathroom, and study spaces for the family.
We renovated this beautiful pre-war space to create a gracious, light-filled family home. We raised the ceilings to 10 feet, added substantial mouldings and casing details, and restored the original wood floors. Built-in bookcases were added to the living room and adjoining study space.
This home to a young family was designed for maximum natural light, with an open living space and spare, modern furniture. The original wood detailing of the apartment was retained and offers a counterpoint to the minimalist furniture.
This beautiful apartment looks over the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. We painted the floors white, and furnished the place in a light, airy palette, with warm wood pieces and some carefully chosen colored accents.
